Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said Afghanistan will have to choose between Fitna al-Khawarij and Pakistan.
He was addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference held in Islamabad on the 10th of this month.
The Field Marshal highlighted that seventy percent of the formations of Fitna al-Khawarij coming from Afghanistan comprise Afghan nationals. He said innocent citizens, including children, are being targeted through terrorism with the backing of the Afghan Taliban.
The Field Marshal spoke in detail on the challenges facing the country, terrorism, matters of national security, Pakistan’s emerging role among the comity of nations, war preparedness, and the importance of knowledge.
Referring to verses of the Holy Qur’an and the poetry of Allama Iqbal, the Field Marshal presented his clear viewpoint regarding Pakistan. He said Allah Almighty has granted Pakistan, among Islamic countries, the honour of being the protector of the Haramain. He added that the State of Tayyaba and the State of Pakistan have a deep relationship and resemblance. He said both states were established on the foundation of Kalima Tayyaba during the blessed month of Ramadan. He said the similarity between the two states exists because Allah intended one to be the Custodian of the Haramain and the other to be their protector.
Syed Asim Munir said Allah’s help was seen and experienced during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.
He made it clear that in an Islamic state, no one other than the state can issue an order or religious decree for jihad.
The Field Marshal further said nations that abandon the intellectual and scholarly legacy of their forefathers and neglect the power of knowledge and the pen ultimately face decline.
