Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has inaugurated the start of production from the Spinwam-1 well in Waziristan block.
The Spinwam well has begun producing forty million cubic feet of gas per day along with two hundred and twenty barrels of condensate.
Ali Pervaiz Malik was appreciative of the role played by local companies in filling the gap caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Even during the global crisis, petroleum product supplies have been maintained.
He said that despite force majeure in LNG supplies, Pakistan did not experience any shortages. Discoveries like Spinwam-I strengthen Pakistan’s energy security.
The total gas supply from the Waziristan block to the national gas network has reached nearly 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
