A special Punjabi Mushaira was broadcast on Radio Pakistan FM 101 Sargodha and received great appreciation from listeners. The program was hosted by renowned writer and poet Munazza Anwar Goindi, while Fareeha Kanwal served as the producer. Prominent poets participating in the literary gathering included Momin Hashmi, Wasi Shah, Iqbal Hassan Kazmi, Abida Nazar, Irfan Atib, Nair Abbas, and Hassan Nawaz Aftab.
Munazza Anwar Goindi conducted the entire program in the Punjabi language, while Nauman Shafiq performed the duties of studio engineer. The special transmission consisted of three segments. The first segment featured Punjabi Naat poetry and Soz-o-Salam, which was presented with devotion and reverence.
The second segment focused on the significance and value of the Punjabi language. Literary scholar Momin Hashmi participated in the discussion. At the beginning of the conversation, Munazza Anwar Goindi stated that Punjabi is one of the world’s oldest and most widely spoken languages. She emphasized that it contains a priceless spiritual and literary heritage left by Sufi saints and has played a vital role in preserving folklore, cultural traditions, and social values across generations.
Speaking on the occasion, Momin Hashmi encouraged the younger generation to learn and write in the Gurmukhi script, noting that it serves as an effective means of communication among Punjabi communities living abroad. He stressed that no language should be associated with any particular religion. He further stated that both Shahmukhi and Gurmukhi scripts contain vast treasures of knowledge, wisdom, and intellectual heritage, and benefiting from them is an important need of the modern era.
The third and final segment featured a Punjabi Mushaira comprising ghazals, rubaiyat, and dohas. The participating poets presented their work in an impressive manner, which was highly appreciated by the audience. Listeners praised the program as a valuable contribution to the promotion of Punjabi language, literature, and culture.
