Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has proposed to further strengthen border security mechanism along the Pakistan-Iran frontier to make it a symbol of peace, brotherhood, development and prosperity.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of 100-megawatt Polan-Gabd electricity project at Pakistan-Iran border on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said there should be no confusion about the border security as both brotherly countries of Pakistan and Iran will utilize all resources and energies to make their common frontier peaceful and secured.

He said that by strengthening the border security, we will foil nefarious designs of those, who want to create rift in the love and friendship of our two countries.

The Prime Minister assured the Iranian side that immediately after returning to Pakistan, he will convene a meeting to devise a strategy and take effective measures in light of Tehran’s proposals regarding the joint security mechanism along the border.

Commenting about the trade and economic cooperation between the two brotherly countries, Shehbaz Sharif said six more border markets will be established in coming days. He said this will be a new milestone in the trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Iran.

He said today the two countries inaugurated 100 megawatt Polan-Gabd electricity transmission line that will benefit the residents of Gwadar.

Highlighting the vast potential of bilateral cooperation in the petroleum and the power sectors, The Prime Minister expressed the belief that leadership of the two countries will continue setting up such projects to ensure development and prosperity of the people by overcoming all challenges and difficulties.

The Prime Minister also thanked Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi for his prompt willingness to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in the field of solar energy.
