
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized the need for peaceful settlement of disputes, multilateralism, inclusive dialogue and respect for international law to achieve global peace and security.
Speaking at a reception hosted by Pakistan’s Mission in New York, he stated that the world must choose cooperation over confrontation and diplomacy over force to address mounting global challenges. He affirmed that Pakistan stands ready to work with the international community to advance these shared goals.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan remains actively engaged with the UN member states to advance the shared objectives of peace and development.
He said Pakistan is a leading voice in the global climate and development discourse. He said Pakistan has supported reforms of the UN to make this organization stronger, more effective and responsive to the interests and priorities of the general membership.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan has also presented its candidature for election to the Human Rights Council for the term 2026-28. He said our candidature has been endorsed by the Asia Pacific Group.
The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan sees multilateralism not as a slogan but as a necessity. He said the UN Security Council must be seen not only as a chamber of reaction but a forum of prevention, problem solving and principled leadership.
Ishaq Dar also stressed the need for greater cooperation between the UN and regional organizations particularly the OIC.
