PM directs to improve supply chain of petroleum imports

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Minister for Petroleum to be more proactive in improving the supply chain of Pakistan’s petroleum imports.

He was chairing a review meeting in Islamabad today regarding implementation of fuel-saving and austerity measures in light of regional situation.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that all relevant departments should remain prepared for emergency measures until the situation improves.

The meeting was informed that entire situation is being monitored and records of petroleum products are being maintained to immediately detect any irregularities.

It was informed that the country has an adequate stock of petroleum products to meet requirements. Implementation of the instructions issued by the Prime Minister is being ensured.

It was further informed that Intelligence Bureau will present monitoring report on the implementation of all measures.

The meeting was informed that the cabinet members have voluntarily not taken their salaries. Positive results are emerging from the reduction of fuel usage in government departments. The savings measures will help provide relief to the public in the current situation.

The meeting was informed that adequate stock of medicines is available in the country to meet national requirements.

It was informed that special connectivity arrangements have been made by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom to provide e-office facility for work-from-home.
