In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, strike was observed in several areas, today (Tuesday), against the conviction of Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik by an Indian kangaroo court in a concocted case despite the Modi regime’s stern warning to traders,  shopkeepers and transporters against closing the businesses.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was convicted by a court of India’s notorious National Investigation Agency on Thursday in a politically motivated case filed against him in 2017.

Indian police detained dozens of Hurriyat activists including JKLF members in the Kashmir valley.

In Muzaffarabad, an anti-India protest rally was held to condemn JKLF chief’s conviction.

Meanwhile, well-known Kashmiri human rights defender, Khurram Parvez, imprisoned by India under draconian laws, has been named by the Time Magazine in its list of 100 Most Influential People of 2022.

Mohammad Yasin Malik, who is lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail appeared before the court of special judge designated under the draconian Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act in Srinagar on virtual mode in the fake cases framed against him in 1987 and 1988. 

Kashmiri journalist Fahad Shah, detained under black law Public Safety Act, was shifted from Kupwara sub jail to a jail in Jammu. He was arrested on February 4 after publishing the narrative of the families of some fake encounter victims, which was in conflict with the Indian police’s version.  

On the other hand, Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government is planning to sack more Kashmiri employees working in occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the pretext of supporting freedom movement.
